Lake Huron Cottage

[ OVERVIEW ]

Modest cottage transformed into a lakeside retreat.

What started as a modest cottage has become a relaxed, modern retreat right on the water. We kept the natural charm of the property while reworking the landscape to feel more grounded and timeless. Using the original pavers as a base, we introduced natural limestone armour stone and flagstone to build structure that blends seamlessly with the shoreline. The textures and tones of the stone feel like they’ve always belonged there, giving the property a real sense of place.

To frame the space and soften the edges, we added native trees for privacy and hydrangeas for a burst of classic, coastal colour. The mix of wood and stone ties everything together—cottage, landscape, and lake—into one easy flow. As the sun goes down, subtle lighting picks up the paths and key features, adding warmth and depth without taking away from the stars or the sound of the waves. With Lake Huron as the backdrop, the result feels effortless: natural, modern, and deeply relaxing.

In collaboration with Centrix Building Group, this once-humble cottage now stands as a true lakeside escape.
